| Thallus brownish to blackish, lacking pseudocyphellae, corticate. Ascomata densely aggregated in irregular groups, subglobose, superficial on the substratum, not overgrown by the thallus, c. 0.3–0.6 mm diam., with separate ostioles. Ascomatal wall without crystals, to 200 μm thick; ostiole apical or skewed, pale. Hamathecium not inspersed with oil droplets, IKI–. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly biseriate, grey to brown, 3-septate, fusiform, with pointed to rounded ends, 15–20 × 6–8 μm; lumina angular; terminal lumina separated from the exospore by an endospore layer. CHEMISTRY: No substances detected. |

| Common in the wet tropics of the N.T. and eastern Qld; also on Christmas Island, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Pantropical, usually in open, coastal forest. | ||
